Making a sequel to “Beetlejuice” takes a little more than just saying the name three times, but that doesn’t mean it’s not possible.

Original director Tim Burton said in December that “Beetlejuice 2” was “closer than ever” during a press tour for his film “Big Eyes.” In February, Betelguese himself – also known as actor Michael Keaton – said that he would be on board to make a sequel if Burton directed it.

Fans of the 1988 classic were recently given further confirmation that “Beetlejuice 2” is in the works. Winona Ryder, who played Goth teenager Lydia Deetz in the original movie, revealed to Seth Meyers on Monday’s “Late Night” show that the long-teased sequel is really happening.

Ryder told Meyers that the project has been “very hush hush, top secret,” but did confirm that the film would be happening. “[Burton] did an on camera interview, and he said, ’Yes! We’re doing it! And Winona is going to be in it!” she said.

No production or release dates for the film have been set. Hear everything Ryder had to say about the project in the clip below:
