‘The Jungle Book’ dazzles, charms and possibly scares

Save for Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), director Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”) used computer animation, some minimal physical sets so Sethi would know where to point his face, a bit of motion capture and hundreds of thousands of Indian jungle reference photos to bring this thing to life. It looks absolutely stunning, frame for frame the most gloriously detailed feature-length hunk of CGI craft to date.

But what’s most impressive is that Favreau manages to tell a solid, well-paced story without letting the jaw-dropping CGI overwhelm the proceedings.
