Fans of Roald Dahl will be delighted by the newest trailer for “The BFG.”

The movie, directed by Steven Spielberg, tells the story of Sophie the orphan who is kidnapped by the Big Friendly Giant, or the BFG. The trailer shows a small bespectacled girl thrown into a whirl of adventure when a giant with huge ears takes her from her bedroom while she is reading.

Oscar (R) winner Mark Rylance stars as the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) in Disney's fantasy-adventure, THE BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg based on the best-selling book by Roald Dahl, which opens in theaters nationwide on July 1.

We see hints of the story line: mean, bigger giants, the curiously-shaped trumpet swinging from the BFG’s hand, and of course, a shot of the BFG slicing a giant, slimy, cucumber-esque vegetable. But the trailer leaves most of the plot untold, a perfect teaser for those who love Dahl’s book.

“The BFG” opens July 1.
