Director Andrew Nackman’s coming out comedy“Fourth Man Out” will open the Austin Gay & Lesbian International Film Festival (aGLIFF) Sept. 10 at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, where the 28th annual fest will take place over four days, closing Sept. 13.
The fest announced its line-up Tuesday.
“Fourth Man Out” stars Chord Overstreet (“Glee”), Parker Young (“Suburgatory”), Kate Flannery, (“The Office”) and Evan Todd as a man who decides to come out to his family on his 24th birthday. It won the Narrative Audience Award at June’s, Inside Out festival in Toronto, Canada and the Dramatic Audience Award at Outfest.
Nackman, Todd and producer Lauren Avinoam are expected to attend opening night.
Jeff Kaufman’s documentary “The State of Marriage” closes the fest and it will be the film’s second-ever screening, following its premier at the Provincetown Film Festival. “State” chronicles the story of Mary Bonauto and her partnership with small town Vermont lawyers Beth Robinson and Susan Murray, their two-decade long struggle for the marriage equality movement and how Vermont became the first state in the U.S. to introduce civil unions in 2000 and same-sex marriages in 2009.
