So, the trailer for Sam Mendes’ “Spectre,” the new James Bond movie, is perhaps the most James Bondish-looking James Bond trailer of the Daniel Craig era.
This thing is steeped in traditional Bond tropes, mythology and action in a way we have not quite seen since before “Casino Royale” (2006), Craig’s first turn as 007.
Ralph Fiennes as a cranky M! Ben Whishaw as an extremely young-looking Q! Naomi Harris (underused in the upcoming “Southpaw”) as Eve Moneypenny!
Christoph Waltz as the mysterious SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) higher-up Franz Oberhauser! (Not the almighty Ernst Stavro Blofeld, as rumored– OR IS IT?) Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux as “Bond ladies” Lucia Sciarra and Madeline Swann!
Bond shooting a sniper rifle into a building that then explodes! A helicopter doing a barrel roll! A totally sick car! That’s what’s up, Sam Mendes.
“Spectre” hits theaters Nov. 6. What do you think, folks?
