1. “Jurassic World”

Domestic gross: At least $558 million

Open since: June 12

Rotten Tomatoes score: 59 percent %

Recommended if you like: Dinosaurs, mutant dinosaurs, Chris Pratt wrangling, then fighting, the previous two.

Problem areas?: A dicey script, Bryce Dallas Howard running from the above monsters in heels.

How did it perform?: To paraphrase Monty Python, “No one expected ‘Jurassic World.’” It is far and away the smash hit of the summer, which was a surprise because the franchise seemed deader than, well, you know. Turns out we, the people, were really in the mood for both Pratt and CGI dinos.

Should you see it?: Apparently everyone else already has, so sure, why not?

Find out about the other nine and a few others worth viewing Thursday in the American-Statesman.
