Applications for this year’s round of AFS Grants (formerly known as the Texas Filmmakers’ Production Fund, or TFPF) are due Tuesday, June 2.
The Austin Film Society has now given out over $1.6 million to over 421 film and video projects since the program began in 1996. In addition to grants for production, post-production and distribution, AFS provides cash stipends to Texas filmmakers traveling to prestigious film festivals through its AFS Travel Grant program.
Grant recipients have shown their films at Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, Tribeca, Venice, Rotterdam and SXSW; several were released theatrically or in the cable and home video markets.
In August, an independent panel of esteemed professionals from the national film community convene in Austin to review applications and administer awards. Award announcements will be on the AFS website at the conclusion of the panel session; grant disbursements are made in the fall.
If you have put it off until the last possible minute (and what artist doesn’t like to procrastinate?), here is all of the info.
