Ryan Gosling’s dark and moody fairy tale, “Lost River,” takes place in a state of mind, but it has an uncanny resemblance to Detroit, and that’s not coincidental.

When Gosling was in Austin recently for the South by Southwest Film Festival, he discussed growing up as a Canadian and his dismay at seeing the decline of Detroit in the last couple of decades.
