The Alamo Drafthouse announced today that it is planning to open its sixth location in Austin at the Mueller town center at Aldrich Street in East Austin. The opening is scheduled for 2016.
“Ever since Mueller was first announced many years ago, we have loved the idea of opening up a theater there. Mueller is a groundbreaking development and a really cool neighborhood,” said Alamo founder and CEO Tim League.
The Alamo Mueller will feature six screens of new releases, classics, independent films, foreign movies and the Alamo’s signature programming. The facility will have six auditoriums and seat about 600.
The theater will also feature an adjacent bar/lounge with a stage for live music, outdoor patio seating, 48 beers on tap and craft cocktails designed by award-winning Beverage Director Bill Norris, according to an Alamo news release.
The theater at Mueller will be a hub for family, kids and youth programming designed to serve the needs of the young families in and around the neighborhood, the Alamo said.
“I’ve recently been charged with creating great cinema experiences for kids ages 3 to 18 at the Alamo,” says Amy Averett, Alamo director of family and community engagement.
