In case you somehow doubted Austin’s geek cred, know that there are two screenings of Jim Henson’s “Labyrinth” starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie, taking place at roughly the same time Friday night.
This follows a Jan. 12 Master Pancake screening at the Paramount, thus perhaps proving a near-infinite supply of Austinites, aged 30-something, walking around yelling “You have no power over me!”
Over at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, you can go the “Labyrinth Sing & Quote-along” at 10 p.m. There will be subtitles and lyrics, so warm up the voice first.
Over at the Austin Film Society, programmer Lars Nilsen has invited local writer Amy Gentry to discuss a Connelly double-feature of Dario Argento’s Phenomena” and “Labyrinth” starting tonight at 7:30p.m. (There will be a second presentation of both films noon Sunday, if there are any of you who want to go to both.)
